Layout Display For Detailed N Scale Modular Layout

Today I installed my LED strip lighting on the layout display. This display was built under my N scale HCD layout that is featured on this website.

These layout sections were built by the husband and wife who introduced me to model railroading about 20 years ago. A lot of the countryside buildings are scratch-built. These modules are 48″ long and 12″ deep. Two of them connect on one wall, then three on anther wall at a 90 degree angle (L-shaped shelf layout). This layout is truly a work of art, and I hope that someday I will have a layout room with the space for me to connect the modules together and connect it to one of the two tracks that run off my HCD layout (I added those tracks for possible layout expansion someday!)

Anyway, here is a video along with some pictures. Thank you Murry and Sherry for the wonderful layout!

Bachmann NW-2 Switcher Arrived Yesterday

I saw late last week that Trainworld.com had a special on N scale Bachmann NW2 Switchers with DCC for only $49.99. They had a model decorated for the New York Central, so I couldn’t resist. I ran it on a part of my layout, and I was VERY impressed with the performance quality. I also have a Life-Like SW-8 that has a very similar body design, and there are some details that I noticed on the Life-Like model that were lacking on the Bachmann, but nonetheless it still looks very nice. In my opinion, it’s running performance it better than the Life-Like switcher (and those of you know who about the Life-Like switcher, it’s a very nice, reliable model too).

Kato NYC RDC’s Arrived Today!

I have been on the hunt well over 6 months for a good deal on eBay for some NYC RDC’s (Rail Diesel Cars) by Kato. These have been out of production for well over 10 years and are kind of hard to come by. I’m excited to add these to my fleet. Eventually, these will have DCC and Sound installed as well.

New Website for my Model Railroad Layout

I decided to make a website documenting the build of my N scale model railroad layout. This is a central site for me to post photos and updates. After having issues hosting photos on Model Railroad message boards and my Facebook photo albums, I decided to host everything on my own site and link the photos from here to message boards.
